Dear Fresh Friday friends,
This weekend is the King’s birthday long weekend. So I thought it would be nice to have a Royal theme to our menu.
In my research into the food favourites of King Charles, I came across something interesting. One of the King’s favourite dishes is a pheasant crumble pie. The recipe has vegetables and a velouté sauce made with stock and flavoured with sherry, the cooked meat is folded back through the sauce, packed into a dish and topped with a savoury crumble mix made with breadcrumbs, butter, bacon, parmesan cheese and some thyme.
It sounds lovely, but pheasant will blow my budget unfortunately. So, I am swapping the pheasant for chicken! Sounds perfect. Full menu below:
